There were some moments where they were truly relaxed and themselves in a way they haven’t been in a long time, including by themselves, and that made it revelatory in some ways. But we also had it made clear that there are some real dangers to be had with the two of them together, and with Vanessa continuing to make the hard choices that reveal real sacrifices about her soul in order to deal with the enemy at hand, that provides its own complications. There were some other really good moments in the episode, particularly with Lily and the chance encounter that brought her to John Clare’s orbit again, but it was primarily all about Ethan and Vanessa and it sold it very well."
