Tangled Animated TV Series Announced for 2017

IGN: Walt Disney Animation announced today that Tangled, a new animated series based on the 2010 film, has begun production, with Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi reprising their roles as Rapunzel and Eugene Fitzherbert (aka Flynn Rider). The series will premiere on Disney Channel in 2017. It will also reunite legendary Disney composer Alan Menken (whose many credits, besides Tangled, include The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin) and lyricist Glenn Slater, as well as executive producers Chris Sonnenburg (Enchanted) and Shane Prigmore (The Lego Movie).

So Frozen gets a film sequel...this gets an animated TV show which, lets be honest, if we compare their other shows might be dumbed down compared to the original film.

They should have given this a sequel instead

Frozen would have done better as a TV series on the Disney channel. Tangled's audience was a little more varied.

They were doing a sequel but the writer/director of the first one felt it was bad so they stopped it, and luckily Disney listened.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a second movie, but a TV show sounds awesome too. Maybe it will gain popularity and explore something they don't expect which leads to another movie?

(I much rather put up with Tangled spam than Frozen. Tangled is miles better!)
