Jennifer Aniston is obsessed with Anna Kendrick in Cake—but not for the usual reasons.
Aniston’s character, Claire, has a problem with chronic pain and fixes that problem by taking pills. A lot of pills. She joins a therapy group full of others who experience chronic pain and becomes entranced with investigating one of the former group members, Nina (Anna Kendrick), who committed suicide.

A movie with a great leading performance, but not enough of anything else. Carleton Rutter gives you his thoughts on Cake, starring Jennifer Aniston, Adriana Barraza, Anna Kendrick, and Sam Worthington.
Clickonline writes: "The film is absolutely worth seeking out for Aniston’s performance alone, trying to survive with a complex series of choices and consequences which would be incredibly hard to live with. But the whole affair never really finds its feet, with an overlong running time and little for the accomplished supporting cast to do"
CE: Jennifer Aniston delivers a career-defining performance, but the film itself is something of a half-baked treat. Consider it another example of the age-old adage — you really can't have your cake and eat it too.
