So, Hollywood has tasked you with re-visiting one of its most revered movie classics. You have a great story to work with, memorable characters at your disposal, and a whole load of enthusiastic fans just waiting to see what you come up with. What could possibly go wrong?
Fight For Paradise Review: This reality show is nothing new but there are so many uncomfortable moments that will definitely give you the ick.
Bros Review: The series, as the title suggests, is about two adult men who want to behave like children and we are not here for that.
Going Home With Tyler Cameron Review: This is a simple, no-nonsense but cliched watch, with Cameron's boyish charms taking centre stage.
1. Put Michael Bay in the director's chair
2. Give Daemon Lindelof a pen and paper
3. Cast a bunch of typecast stars
4. Reboot your reboot every other year
5. All of the above
Number 4 is a problem that is translated to almost every genre, and it's annoying.
Horror - for some reason instead of tense suspense filled horror, directors instead prefer cutting people up and pretend that's scary for some reason.
Action - Again, instead of the smaller story about a single character in a suspenseful scenario, it's all about how big the battles can be and how much CGI you can shove into a 2 hour movie.....
Even romantic comedies are beginning to lose their focus and are becoming more about having one totally clueless character and a decent one just to get cheap jokes.... instead of a carefully crafted comedy....
Remakes and Reboots are different.
one can screw a remake by losing the point of the entire film, the essence/substance that makes the film classic, unique,
to have a good or passable remake is have the film as it was but change or add or give something refreshing that the audience may appreciate;
some examples are:
true grit (2010)and texas chainsaw massacre(2003)
reboots are more of drastic changes to make a better version of the previous film and make another fresh start like a reset button, good examples are;
rise of the planet of the apes and batman begins
the real screw up factor for a reboot is when it dumbs down or it is a sillier version of the previous one.
