Hugh Jackman Joins Neill Blomkamp's Sci-Fi Comedy 'Chappie'

Grossing less than $100 million in the U.S., Neil Blomkamp's "Elysium" wasn't the tentpole success Sony or the filmmakers had hoped it would be. But grossing $250 million worldwide, the film (which cost $115 million) wasn't a total wash, and regardless, Blomkamp remains unbowed. His next picture, the sci-fi comedy "Chappie" is getting underway and it appears as if casting is almost finished.

When did it turn into a comedy? The synopsis that they released and all that a little while ago said nothing of that. It would be different, especially considering Blomkamp's previous films.

blomkamp needs to do something other than sci-fi.
it always feels like he is trying to prove himself in the sci-fi genre so that he could get the Halo job. but i'd like to see what else he can do.
