Warner Bros. Blocking Harvey Weinstein From Using The Butler Title On Lee Daniels Film

A title fight is brewing between The Weinstein Company and Warner Bros over The Butler, the Lee Daniels-directed historical drama that stars Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey and David Oyelowo, with a stellar cast playing small roles as the occupants of the White House during one man’s tenure as butler for eight presidents. Warner Bros is trying to block Harvey Weinstein from using the title The Butler on the film, and it seems like a real “screw you”. Warner Bros is claiming it has rights to the title because of a 1916 silent comedy short called The Butler.
