Are Lawrence Kasdan, Simon Kinberg Being Courted To Script ‘Star Wars’ Pics 2 and 3?

Deadline

Here’s some tantalizing dish to chew on before the Thanksgiving turkey and trimmings. After hiring Michael Arndt to script the first installment of the relaunch of George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise, I’ve heard Disney has approached Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg and I believe it is to get the ball rolling on the subsequent installments mapped out by Lucas. Personally, as awesome as I think this news could be, I really want to see new writers for the films, instead of any of the original ones. It's time to see a 'fresh' take with new blood screenwriters who've proven themselves.

I think we're going to get a really good dose of "Fresh Blood" with the directors. My only hope is that they don't get directos who are so vastly different that each movie has a totally different feel than the rest....if that makes sense

I think this is a brilliant move really. Combining Kasdan and Kinberg, you get the new and old merging. Kasdan is a wonderfully great writer and his experience with the Star Wars franchise will allow for the continuity type deal of continuing the feel from the originals.

Meanwhile, the addition of Kinsberg will bring in the new blood to give it a dose of freshness. And we've already seen from his X-Men work that he can be very good.

I think this could be a great blend. Now, just need to see who is chosen to direct to really provide that balance of old and new.

I'll say!

Lawrence worked on the godly originals and I am excited to see this news, the possibility of him penning or directing piques my interest.

Nice: a mix of the old and new with Kasdan, Kinberg and Arndt.
