But the more I think about it, the more I think we were being lulled into a false sense of security.
Killing off so many characters snapped me back to reality letting me know anyone could go at any time.

Kratos is right, those characters were just filler anyway.
Plus I like that some of the main characters died abruptly, it drove home that the world is dangerous and anyone could be taken at anytime. The show had been lingering a bit this season on the farm with everyone so safe. It was a nice snap back to reality.
After a slow start (I thought the show stalled a bit staying on the farm for so long, and spending so long searching for the girl), this season is finishing strong.
The last two episodes have been awesome.

I didn't mind Battle LA. The aliens were crap, but thought the action and performances were solid. It want top shelf, but I wasn't expecting it to be either. Sometimes I like to just put my brain in park.
