Deadline says:
I received a phone call earlier this week that UTA on Tuesday fired actor Michael Pitt who plays Jimmy Darmody on the HBO series. “If you decide to post about someone (probably WME) signing Michael Pitt, who is one of the stars of Boardwalk Empire, please note that UTA fired him as a client yesterday because he’s really difficult on set and otherwise.” I felt that Pitt was too small a name to bother posting this bad news (I’d never heard of him) or that he had landed at WME. But since the news of the WME signing is now out there, I thought Deadline readers deserved to have the complete story. I understand that UTA agent Billy Lazarus spent “many years” making Pitt into a working actor. So it’s safe to assume that Pitt must have really pissed off the agency big-time.
An excellent sci-fi action film that has been given a lot more flak than it deserves. Mainly, because this film has about the same opinion concerning whitewashing as the majority of its audience: It's not a good thing.
TVLine: The actor, who played sociopathic meat-packing magnate Mason Verger in Season 2, is not returning to the series and will be replaced by Joe Anderson (The Divide, The River), TVLine has learned exclusively.
Yeah, pitt was really great, but its not a deal breaker for me. This is an incredible series.
Michael Pitt was awesome in this role. So sadistic and just generally messed up. Now the character will be in heavy makeup, so I guess Mason will be a little more subdued in any case. Maybe that had something to do with it for Michael Pitt.
THR says
Michael Pitt, Paul Dano and Alden Ehrenreich are among those taking part in testing for a part opposite Garret Hedlund and possibly Kristen Stewart in the adaptation of the Japanese classic.
I don't know anything about this Akira character but I've been hearing about it since day 1 of my being on this site. I guess I need to start checking it out since there seems to really going to be a movie happening.
