The latest victim of the CinemaSins YouTube channel is Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
CB: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is now in theaters, and represents the closing chapter of Peter Jackson’s Middle-earth film saga.
It’s been a long road, through six films with long run times. Jackson has displayed a clear love for Tolkien’s work, and has managed to bring much of it to life on screen through The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
I hate how they do these stories backwards, but I completely understand why.
Someone needs to do the Silmarillion, PROPERLY, I might add. Let the people who have only watched the movies know why Sauron is who he is and why he is feared/hated so much.
It's weird that they are finishing a prequel trilogy. I mean, we already know what's going to happen, so...

Back when An Unexpected Journey came out to mixed reviews, its defenders were keen to point out that it was merely the first in a three-part story and you couldn’t condemn The Hobbit until it was over. After all, people didn’t judge the whole The Lord Of The Rings trilogy on The Fellowship Of The Ring, did they? Well, yes they did – the first film was nominated for thirteen Oscars, including Best Picture – but humouring them people patiently waited to see how things transpired.
Disagree with many of the points except maybe the overuse of CG on the villains.
I personally enjoy this trilogy very much. But I didn't know that about the Director's Cut double dippings.
I would say that I fundamentally disagree with most of the choices. Stuff the absurdity of so many throwaway dwarves seemed to reflect that of The Hobbit book. It's cheeky comedy intended to have fun with keeping up with each one.
CBM: In anticipation of The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies the guys over at Screen Junkies have decided to get honest with The Desolation Of Smaug.
Eh...not one of their best. I can see others annoyed with the time but I still see the magic in them.
