Is Hollywood Limiting The Rock’s Promos And Image In WWE?

Back in the Attitude era, The Rock was on fire. His promos were golden and there was no topic that was off limits. Since he came back to the WWE in 2011, he’s said a few funny things but his image seems somewhat limited now.

Mostly disagree with the conclusions that are being made here. When Dwayne Johnson appears on WWE television as The Rock, he is appearing as that character. The people that watch WWE television know this and expect it. The WWE has cleaned up its image over the last decade(in my opinion for the worse) and The Rock is just performing within those new constraints that the company has set for themselves.

Wrestling is boring these days. There is a very serious lack of real stunts; while I understand that safety is the issue, I don't want to watch fake MMA. And while I think the attitude era was a bit goofy and over the top at times, it worked well. Better yet were some of the earlier years.

Oh WWF...what happened?

Completely agree. It is one of the reasons I drifted away from WWE to TNA but I couldn't stay watching that either because their writing was so atrocious. Outside of Wrestlemania and a couple other times a year, I've completely stopped watching across the board. It makes me sad because I grew up watching wrestling with my Dad but my son won't ever get that because the quality is just so subpar its not worth wasting time on.

If anything Hollywood studios WANT as much cross-promotion as possible, same with WWE. It's all about the money.
