For anyone wondering what it does, it's a stability update.

I got really excited until I saw this. Should be some more fun updates to the console features this early in its life cycle! netflix, etc

Summons752590d ago

They will come but let them get the console on the ground first and get a steady stream of games before worrying about device #72 you own to play Netflix on. Gaming machine first, anything else a distant second.

Utalkin2me2590d ago

@Summons75

Well excuse people for wanting features and functionality....Go figure

Nu2590d ago

@Utalkin2me59m ago "well excuse me princess"

TekoIie2590d ago (Edited 2590d ago )

@Utalkin2me

I completely understand the desire for media apps, but at the end of the day Summons 75 is right.

I would rather recources be focused on bringing social/gaming features to the system. For example:

Game Folders
Community Hub
Virtual Console
Improved Data Management
Trophies/Achievements

These are a priority IMO. Netflix can wait since 90% of people will have a device with them that already has it.

2pacalypsenow2590d ago

@Summons75

it's 2017, the console should have those features built in already.

Perjoss2590d ago

"it's 2017, the console should have those features built in already."

All the features that the XB1 and PS4 have right now, were they there from launch? nope, quite a lot of extra features were added later and are still being added all the time. Like how the PS4 just recently got external hard drive support.

Got to agree with some people here. Netflix can wait nearly everything has netflix support. The watch my granddad bought in 1895 has an netflix app we simply don't need any more devices with an netflix app.

Much rather Nintendo spend the time working on a virtual console. Would love Gameboy,GBA,DS VC support.

greenmeanie2590d ago

I agree with utalkin2me. I love my switch, but all it is at the moment is a Zelda machine. At this point, the original Wii has more functionality! No virtual console, no multimedia functions. It is a tablet that doesn't really function like a tablet. For gaming it's great, but come on and give me some apps.

porkChop2590d ago

I agree. I do want more features and apps on the Switch. But I appreciate the strict focus on games for launch.

I do hope that we get things like folders, MP3 player, Netflix, save backups, etc, this year.

Bathyj2590d ago

I was hoping it added 3rd party support.

I kid, I kid.
Play me off Johnny.

I haven't had a single stability issue. Everything functions and loads lightning fast on mine? I haven't encountered one freeze or error. My wiiu at launch kept bricking and loading for years. I say kudos to Nintendo for getting that right this time.

It would be nice to see more features. Wiius browser was better than my Tablet

vergilxx32590d ago

Me and my friend had sleep mode issues , when leaving zelda on sleep mode for a night or two, game was acting weird not allowing you to close it or go to home menu ultimately freezing

porkChop2590d ago

Mine has been fine. I've had 1 crash in Zelda, and that was a couple weeks ago. Not a single issue since then.

Aenea2590d ago

And yet Nintendo thinks it needed more stability so apparently there were people with issues....

vergilxx32590d ago

Lolol Zelda Nerds giving down votes , when I only spoke truth

BLKxSEPTEMBER2590d ago

My Switch won't stay connected to the internet and it also when powered off randomly makes my tv go to the hdmi port it's connected to. Hope this fixes that.

Neonridr2590d ago

the only issue I am having when it is in docked mode is that if I am not using it, my LG TV keeps telling me that the Switch is available in the top right corner every so often. There has to be a way to disable that notification, but it can be annoying at times.

CDbiggen2590d ago (Edited 2590d ago )

I have an LG and i get that as well.

Neonridr2590d ago (Edited 2590d ago )

@CDbiggen - yeah, there must be a way to disable that.

Doing some googling, apparently if you go into the sleep settings and change the Auto Sleep while connected to TV to "never" it may fix the issue. Problem is the Console is waking itself up from sleep mode while connected to the TV in docked mode. Probably to check for updates, or to ping the servers or something like that. So I think everytime it wakes itself the TV is detecting a new input. Going to try this out tonight and see if it helps prevent that notification from popping up.

CDbiggen2590d ago

Cheers bud, if I figure it out I'll let you know too.
It's happened three times, each time the switch was in sleep mode so i assumed it was automatically waking up or something.

Braveheart_NZ2590d ago (Edited 2590d ago )

My Switch and my partners Switch does the very same thing, sending a notification to the TV screen telling us that the Switch is available when it was put in sleep mode and no one at that moment was using it. Hope that's fixed or that they will fix it quickly. It's quite annoying to see that message all the time flashing on screen when you are watching TV etc.

No internet issues but my dock does the same exact thing. I have an HDMI hub that has my PS4, Wii U, PC and Switch connected to it. I was playing Dark Souls 3 last night in preparation for the DLC, and while in the middle of a boss fight the damn thing switched (no pun intended) over to the HDMI port for my Switch. I have to manually switch it back which is pretty annoying.

BLKxSEPTEMBER2590d ago

Yeah it's very annoying and Nintendo needs to fix it asap. I have to keep it undocked to prevent it from doing that.

As soon as they say trophies I'm in. Otherwise I'm sticking to my Wii u/3ds xl

Probablly wise my Switch is just sat in case currently... horizon tho 👍🏻

Neonridr2590d ago

missing out on Zelda son. I have Horizon too, but it's the exact opposite. That is sitting in its case currently.

RosweeSon2590d ago

I like to save the best til last but I'll play Zelda soon for sure would have preferred some Mario Kart or VC stuff to start me off tho or a Wii sports... Wario ware. It'll get used for sure tho.

Perjoss2590d ago

Taking a little break from Zelda after 170 hours played, playing Horizon and I'm about 7 hours in, both games are absolutely fantastic, but I can see why Horizon received mainly 9's while Zelda got mainly 10's

Was Hogwarts Legacy Only Successful Because Of Nostalgia?

Shahmeer from eXputer: "I've always wondered whether the success of Hogwarts Legacy had much to do with nostalgia. The RPG is great but certainly not free of issues."

Lexreborn27m ago

I still haven’t finished it, mostly due to it not holding my interest after 20 hours. Wouldn’t say it’s a bad game, wouldn’t say it’s amazing I really can’t judge it fully due to not completing it.
