I'm good with Cavill as Superman, but my problem with Man of Steel is in some of the choices they made while writing it. For instance, Jor-El has such a huge focus of being cool and an inspiration, while Jonathan Kent comes off in such a bad light. I'm also not the biggest fan of the casting of Amy Adams.
DC is sleeping on their franchises too much and now they're panicking and trying to rush. Perhaps the blame is to put on Warner Bros not wanting to invest as much time/effort/money per year as Marvel...but DC definitely shouldn't be focused on projects that don't amount to much. How many times have they tried working out a Wonder Woman TV show, which is much more intricate than just pumping out ONE movie?
Yeah, 2014 isn't going to be the year to change that trend lol

Totally agreed about Zod's death. I wasn't as annoyed that he killed Zod as much as I was that it didn't mean as much as it was supposed to. If he had spent the entire time before that treasuring everything precious about life and whatnot, it would have been a bigger decision, rather than just the mindless destruction and choosing not to save people and such.
