This week we have news on some beloved (and some not so beloved) franchises rising from the ashes as well as a quartet of new trailers (which you can see below) that will have you simultaneously scratching your head and asking for more. Featured music is from the artist "Richard Ashcroft" and the "Rubber" motion picture soundtrack.
AnalogHype:"2011 is almost over…. done… finished! And, it is that time of year to compile all the best movies of the year… Of course, however, that is not what this particular piece of writing is. No, this is the worst of 2011 list… This year, we have not one… not two… but THREE Adam Sandler associated films on this list. "
I liked Just Go With It, Pirates, and Battle LA.
EDIT: Uploaded 5 mins ago already at 110 degrees, WTF?
I didn't mind Battle LA. The aliens were crap, but thought the action and performances were solid. It want top shelf, but I wasn't expecting it to be either. Sometimes I like to just put my brain in park.
Pirates sucked though. The awesome Ian McShane started strong but then just sort of faded into the background. The only person who appeared more bored with this movie than me was Johnny Depp himself. His character has just about become a caricature of itself.
I agree with the guy about Battle:LA. That movie was terrible. From the very beginning we I knew was going to die or live. Every movie marine who is a day or two away from getting married, seeing their unborn child, or coming home after a tour is guaranteed death.
As for the Human Centipede 2, god awful garbage. And I thought nothing could get any worse than Serbian Film.
The fact that this guy is working on part three is shocking.
What no Bellflower? No Immortals? No Melancholia? No Another Earth?

With the remake trend reaching an all out crescendo this year – was there any week that didn’t have a remake or reboot released into theaters – I know I probably shouldn’t talk of even more remakes. I don’t think remakes are the problem per se because, after all, if a story is good, it should be retold again and again (how many times has Shakespeare been rebooted and retooled again?), but there should be a compelling reason to remake something and before you say it, making more money is NOT the compelling reason I am talking about."
