Jeri Ryan to Return for Mortal Kombat Digital Series

Jeri Ryan ("Star Trek: Voyager," "Leverage," "Boston Public") confirmed on her Twitter account that she will be reprising the role of Sonya in Warner Premiere's "Mortal Kombat" digital series that has started filming in Vancouver.

She writes: Heading to the farmer's market with the hubs & my girl. Then this evening I head to Vancouver to shoot Mortal Kombat! (NOW it's official)

Again, I just can't get that excited for this series. It just isn't Mortal Kombat for me. I'm sure it'll be good, but it won't be MK.

Ya - I get what you're saying. You're missing the whole "supernatural" feel that surrounds the series. I like the take they're running with though routing it in more of a natural and realistic universe.

For me, a big part of what makes MK great are the fantastical elements. I don't think you have to make everything natural and realistic to make it successful. Knowing what they do now, they could make a fantastical MK series/movie that would be very awesome.

Like I've said before, I'm sure this series will be great and have some truly awesome moments...but it still won't feel like MK to me.

You're not wrong - I suspect they're going to keep some of those more "fantastical elements" in there to stay true to the source material but set in a more realistic backdrop.
