Darren Aronofsky Confirms a New Title for 'Wolverine 2'

HitFix:
When Aronofsky was settling in for the interview, I mentioned to him that I had run into Matty Libatique the other night, and Aronofsky smiled. "I saw that." He offered up one correction to the information that we've run on the film so far, though, and as far as I can tell, this is the first time I've heard this.

The film that he's directing is officially called "The Wolverine," and there won't be a number attached to it. In our interview, he referred to the movie as a "one-off," and he emphasized that the film isn't a sequel in any conventional sense.

It's not a sequel!! That makes this infinitely more awesome I think.

Sunny_D4911d ago

So, this won't be the sequel to Xmen Origins? This franchise is going to get very inconsistent if they do that.

JL4911d ago

No it's not a sequel to X-Men Origins. It's just a standalone movie about Wolverine. And from the way he talks, won't have any real connection with the X-Men trilogy.

I can understand complaints of inconsistency, however, I didn't like Origins so I'm just glad it's not a sequel. I think Aronofsky could do better with a Wolverine movie without restraints like that.

Totally agree, way more potential as a stand alone film than it would be if it was tied down to Xmen.

Already my hopes are getting high for this film. The last one sucked, and as long as they stay away from it, they should be off to a better start.

My problem with this film though, is still the same as the last one...continuity with the movies is sure to suffer.

I didnt have alot of issues with the last one, I actually enjoyed it. Was at least alot better than most of the super hero movies out there, most notably Iron Man....

Sunny_D4910d ago

Yeah, me too. I wonder if any of the movies will have Wolverine in his original yellow costume like the comics? It could be a big fan service.

I agree with you, the last Wolverine movie was not good at all, it remains the only X-Men movie that i only watched once.

blur994910d ago

Wolverine is great and edgy character. Hope that he captures that and it is better than the last film about Wolverine.

Its good that it has nothing to do with X-Men Origins Wolverine, it sucked.
