FGE - The eight episode of Game of Thrones’ sixth season, “No One” follows the same pattern as the last several episodes. Plots are moved forward, but characterization and exposition take precedence over action and significant events. While the slower pace was a welcome reprieve after the flurry of activity that began this season and culminated in the tumultuous fifth episode “The Door”, we’ve now had three episodes in a row where not much of consequence happens. The character building and careful plotting of the sixth and seventh episode were necessary to set the table for the season’s conclusion, but there is no excuse for the plodding pace of this episode. We are now late season territory, and the showrunners have left themselves with precious little time to resolve this season’s outstanding storylines.

Overall, The Veil Episode 5 is a riveting continuation that expertly blends character-driven drama with high-stakes intrigue.
