Crimson Peak is another one of those much-maligned movies that failed to find an audience theatrically but could generate a cult following over time. An unabashed throwback to forties-style horror chillers, where spookiness (by necessity) stood-in for gore, Crimson Peak upset fans who were clearly expecting something a lot less sophisticated.
