A very sad day indeed. David Bowie will always live on through his music, but through his movie roles too. He played the PERFECT Tesla in The Prestige. It's a crime he never starred in a Tesla film.

Rest in peace, Mr. Bowie.

My God, I didn't even know he was battling cancer. We're losing rock legends left and right. Terrible way to start off a new year. My heart goes out to his family.

Ground control to Major Tom, R.I.P David Bowie

Extremely sad. My dad died last week and we decided a few days ago to play Heroes as one of his songs at his funeral next week. Now this news makes it even more sad.

A true legend.

i'm really sorry for your loss

I'm sorry for your loss man. I wish I could say more. My grandfather died last November after a 2 year battle with lung cancer which he got from second hand smoke. The man was in his 90's and still in great shape before cancer came and turned his life upside down. I don't think most people realize just how bad cancer is until it hits them or a loved one. :(

My aunt currently suffers from cancer. Lemmy Kilmister died a few short weeks ago from it and now Mr. Bowie. It really puts life and this dreaded disease into perspective.

If you need anyone to talk to I'm here for ya brother!

Thanks guys. Never know what to say in times like these.

@chicken. Sorry to hear about your aunt and grandad.

The Labyrinth Set For Remake Or Sequel? Either Way WTF

Now I know this is not a remake movie because if it was that would be a damn disgrace, but come on! We don’t want a Labyrinth sequel for god sake, maybe years ago when the late David Bowie was with us yes.

10 Perfectly Weird David Bowie Movie Performances

What Culture

Following the legendary David Bowie’s tragic, unexpected passing this week, there’s been tribute after tribute, in print and online: about his incredible music, about his influence on popular culture, about the effect he’s had on so many of us, and the huge, impossible space he leaves behind.

One thing that hasn’t been getting so much love is his creative output as an actor. There’s a negative association with rock stars and acting that’s been going on for decades, ever since the unholy trinity of Sting, Madonna and Prince assaulted the silver screen with their vanity projects and failed attempts at Hollywood stardom, and kickstarted the kvetching from an avalanche of critics.
