Deadline: Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant and Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight dazzled with muscular debuts this weekend. Fox’s Leonardo DiCaprio survival adventure handily delivered the weekend’s top per theater average with $117,750. The Hateful Eight‘s $45,366 average across 100 locations was all the more impressive because it played exclusively in theaters The Weinstein Company had retrofitted with 70mm film projection equipment. That meant showtimes were limited in most cases to a single auditorium. Other specialty newcomers also found their footing. Sundance Selects’ 45 Years starring Charlotte Rampling posted solid numbers in three New York and Los Angeles theaters, while China Lion opened Mr. Six in tandem to the title’s release at home in China with relatively solid results. And TWC’s Carol maintains its allure after a fairly significant expansion.
With the new The Crow remake coming soon, we take a look back at the 30-year-old cult classic original–and where the stars are now.
Kaam Chalu Hai Review: Based on true events, this movie is thought-provoking and inspiring
Rebel Moon Part 2 Review: This movie doesn't feel anything new or worth remembering, which is a shame.
