The Big Short (2015) Review | FilmGamesEtc

FGE -In Adam McKay’s latest directorial effort, The Big Short, the film explores the true life events leading up to the housing bubble burst and credit crisis of 2007 and the few key individuals who saw it coming. The screenplay by Adam McKay and Charles Randolph is based on Michael Lewis’ bestselling book of the same name. The movie is narrated by Ryan Gosling’s character, Jared Vennett, a slick, young mortgage trader who played a key role in helping others bet against the U.S. housing market, an investment move that was unprecedented at the time but had far bigger payoffs than the risks involved if they won. With an ensemble cast of big name A-list Hollywood actors, the film’s interesting subject matter and storyline may just make you forget that Bale, Pitt, Gosling, and Carrell also stars in this film. That’s because the story itself is the main star here.
