The movie is narrated by Ryan Gosling’s character, Jared Vennett, a slick, young mortgage trader who played a key role in helping others bet against the U.S. housing market, an investment move that was unprecedented at the time but had far bigger payoffs than the risks involved if they won. With an ensemble cast of big name A-list Hollywood actors, the film’s interesting subject matter and storyline may just make you forget that Bale, Pitt, Gosling, and Carrell also stars in this film. That’s because the story itself is the main star here.
