It’s a genre known and loved for its clichés and iconography – the stagecoaches, the dusty frontier towns, the horses and the shootouts; you can look at one scene from any Western and know exactly what you’re watching. Back in the 1950s and 60s, you were never far from a new Western film – some of which have become some of the most highly regarded films of all time, particularly the Spaghetti Westerns.
