Patty Jenkins managed to make Charlize Theron look ugly in Monster (2003) so I'll trust she can make Gal look tough in Wonder Woman (2017). Kinda glad it's not Angelina Jolie directing but how exactly are they going about hiring these directors? Is 'must be a woman' the top requirement? Seems odd for them to limit themselves like that.

But a man's perspective is something that can inherently colors filmmaking. Look at the Fast and the Furious movies. Do you think a woman ever directed them? Obviously a GOOD woman director is a requirement too, but a feminine perspective is something that Wonder Woman's so rarely had beyond Gail Simone's work – and it's what's helped elevate the character to more than she god previously in the comics.

Have to disagree. (I think?) I don't think being male or female will change the outlook of something like this. It's a comic book, it has source material, and a director with a lot of passion for it will find an approach to it.

I say that both ways. A woman directed Punisher: Warzone and did a hell of a good job with it. It was gory, lots of action, and did a great job of playing out what a "man's movie" normally partakes. She also had a lot of the crew read pretty much every Punisher comic that it dealt with.

On the flip side, A lot of romance novels are written by guys with a "pen name" of a female simply because of this problem. People say a guy can't do it, yet their favorite stories could be a guy writing it. (Let alone Sparks and his following)

All I'm saying is that if they choose a male or female, it shouldn't matter. If they show the passion, let them take the shot at it. (I agree, at least it's not Jolie)
