Sony Producing Gore Verbinski’s ‘Driverless Race Car’ Film

Gambitcon - Since Gore Verbinski’s Pyongyang was cancelled due to the North Korea hacking incident this yet untitled film is finally getting closer to development. Written by Steve Conrad (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) the film revolves around a cross-country race with driverless cars. The official synopsis describes the film as a large scale action adventure comedy that’s best described as a transcontinental car race with autonomous vehicles. I strongly disagree with this opinion. For me everything Verbinski has made is a masterpiece. I think people are just unjustifiedly bashing Johnny Depp and the people he usually works with i.e. Burton, Verbinski, and people tend to overlook the qualities of the films solely for Depp's presence.

Glad you're able to enjoy him films. And I actually like Johnny Depp as an actor, but I'm just tired of him sticking to this typical rhythm with more recent roles in blockbusters (except for Transcendence).

At World's End and The Long Ranger were the tipping points for me when it came to my patience.
