Paramount Cancels ‘Team America’ Showings, Theaters Say

Deadline: Forget those plans by Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and other theaters to run Team America: World Police in place of The Interview. The Austin-based chain says that Paramount has now decided not to offer South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s 2004 satire that focuses on Kim Jong-il, the late father of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Alamo says that the cancellation at its Dallas theater is “due to circumstances beyond our control” and says it will offer refunds to those who have already bought tickets. Cleveland’s Capitol Theater also tweeted that Team America “has been canceled by Paramount Pictures.”

Now everyone is scared of N.Korea. Meanwhile movies will be made about various terrorist organizations: Al Qadea, ISIS- groups that have actually committed atrocities and will continue to do so regardless of Hollywood films.

But a marshmallow in a Nehru jacket is off limits =/

This whole situation is quite sad really. It's not like the guy was some peace loving human that was beloved by his country. He is a dictating jerk that nobody likes, and someone made a film speaking up about it. You'd expect the film to be suppressed in NK, but no America.... Then to take it further and be scared to even be related to it at all?

All that said, not like Team America was ever made into a better movie on a bigger screen.
