Ahead of its premiere this Wednesday, Red Band Society has been largely described as the lovechild of Glee and Grey’s Anatomy, with The United States of Tara serving as the oddball uncle who comes knocking on holidays. The premise itself is simple: we follow a group of misfit kids and teens with terminal illnesses (like bone cancer and cystic fibrosis) as they live together in a hospital ward. There, they’re managed by hardened, hard-working people who love their jobs a little too much. It’s all very quaint with traces of Steven Spielberg’s signature style (the show hails from his production company, Amblin Entertainment). It’s also unlike anything else debuting this fall season thanks to its warm and fuzzy messages, traced with an underlying ironic tone.
Cooking Up Murder: Uncovering the Story of César Román Review: The documentary investigates the mysterious murder case of Heydi Paz and her convicted chef boyfriend.
Mother of the Bride Review: The rom-com follows soon-to-be wedded couple, RJ & Emma and the chaos that ensues when their former lover parents come across.
Dark Matter Review: Although some of its runtime might be quite dense, there are moments in this sci-fi series that leaves you at the edge of your seat.
I wasn't sure about this show but I thought it would be depressing because of the setting and it was mostly about kids. I have to say that although I'm sure it will have it's tear/tissue moments, I was surprised that I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters on the show.
