Not many world tours would probably think of using Cardiff as a launch point but Doctor Who, which returns to our screens on August 23rd, has remained loyal to the Welsh capital and rewarded it yesterday with the world premiere of the first episode of Season 8.
The premier was held in the afternoon and was anything but low-key. The red carpet was laid out at St. David’s Hall and over 4,500 thousand fans lined the way at the Hayes, all eager for a peek at one of the stars of the new season of the long-running show, in particular the latest actor to step into the lead role – Peter Capaldi. The first impression, however, was less ‘Time Lord’ and more ‘Not On Time Lord’, as the stars were over 20 minutes late to arrive at the event. This was forgiven almost instantly as the fans glimpsed them stepping out of their cars and into the baying hordes.
