The Playlist:
Well, the most-talked about TV drama since "Breaking Bad" is done for the moment, with the eighth episode of "True Detective" airing on HBO Sunday night, providing closure on the Yellow King and the spread of the conspiracy (catch up with our recap of the final part here). For the last couple of months, the internet has been abuzz with theories, arguments and think-pieces: whatever you think of Nic Pizzolatto's show, there's no denying that it provided an awful lot to chew on.
Ashley Madison-Sex Lies and Scandal Review: The documentary refuses to take a stand on whether or not it wants us to feel bad for cheaters, infuriating viewers with its wishy washy attitude.
Outer Range Season 2 Review: This season is as insane and slow as the last part and doesn't attempt to answer any questions, while adding on to those of the last one.
Monster Review: While this film delivers elements of horror and thriller, they're only sporadically effective, leaving the overall experience falling short of expectations.
As long as they get someone that makes it as good or better than this season I'll be watching.
David Lynch? (Let's be honest, the show owes a loooot to Twin Peaks)
Think I'm just gonna trust HBO's judgment on this one. I had never heard of Cary Jojo Fukunaga before season 1. That was a wise choice on their part. Even though I feel the show went out on kind of a bang instead of a whimper, that tracking shot in ep4 was epic. Never would have expected that in a tv show.
i do not know if season 2 will continue with woody harrelson's story as the other half but it seems unlikely. or they would have him but his cast and the story is different this time around. i would like it to have another new story than continuing the first one because there is nothing left to deal with in season 1's story.
regarding the directors i hope they get a good choice, i do not know much about the directors mentioned, i hope it would be as good as season 1.
