Geek Binge: Since the 1995 debacle that is Danny Cannon’s Judge Dredd, the Dredd property has had a stink on it. You mention Judge Dredd to both movie & comic fanboys and the image of Sylvester Stallone flying on a motorcycle with Rob Schneider on the back screaming comes to mind. Although an imposing figure, Stallone’s Dredd was too personable. The plot of the film was too concerned with making Dredd a character. Judge Dredd is the law, that’s all you need. Anything else can come later. When it was announced in 2010 that there would be a Judge Dredd reboot, no one was looking forward to it. When it was announced there was delays for reshoots and disagreements in the editing process, everyone feared the worst. With all that said, Dredd is a helluva ride that towers over the original film, setting itself up as one of the best action films of the year so far.
