At staying in the console biz? Defeating Sony? Taking the market share? Idk if ppl realize just how insignificant the xbox division is to MS. Gaming is a side note to them and once it starts to falter and become more trouble than it's worth they will sell it.

Not to worry you, but PlayStation is the only thing Sony has going for them. Not only is their success with PlayStation more important than you, it also makes them ripe for a takeover. For Microsoft, Xbox is about having a more diverse portfolio. The division is profitable and successful for what they want it to do. "Winning" by selling the most is a goal set by fans and hardly grounded in reality.

Xbox cant launch a completely new gen after PlayStation...I doubt they would do that after what happened with this gens simultaneous launch and playstation 2 gens year late launch. They either launch same time or early. If they have a 100% power gap then maybe that could work for them, but then the price becomes a worry.

Xbox can launch their mid gen console a year later, why can't they do it again? I think the point many of you are missing is the traditional generation is over. Microsoft can release another mid gen console in 3 or 4 years. The goal is to keep them backwards and forwards compatible like PC has been for decades. Software doesn't have to die every generation.
