In all honesty I've never been much for DLC period. Though recently I have grown more open to, have purchased Bloodborne: The Old Hunters, Dark Souls III (though I'll likely wait to play until all DLC is released) & yes, even Destiny despite the fact this year was even a bigger mistake than those of past. Personally I would love to see games release as complete package again. Also it's one thing to release DLC that extends the play of a game and a completely different thing to release story driven DLC. That being said I'd say it's ok to release story driven DLC but only if doesn't affect the game Day 1. Branching side stories out, perhaps a new story that takes place after the ending and so on.

I think the problem here is that FF players are use to exploring all facets of the story when another character has something come up. I do think that, so far, FFXV has been fine focusing solely on Noct while dismissing any real narrative for his companions. But many others will probably disagree. From the sounds of the article this is exactly what the dlc is to be, additional story related content for his companions. Honestly, I think anyone who wants to spend more time with this game will appreciate it. Those who want to move on really aren't missing anything as they've experienced the game at it's core. At the same time I do understand not wanting to go back. My philosophy has always been eat one game and don't look back. Certainly there's the exception to that where I'll replay a game but in regards to additional content, I do prefer my steak and all of the trimmings on the plate Day 1. Perhaps that's one major reason, for the most part, that I personally avoid dlc and seasons passes.

I have been milking this game spending so much, too much time side questing, monster hunting and fishing so perhaps once this dlc drops I'll just be finishing up. At the same time I do have Last Guardian along with several other games I need to sink my teeth into. Anyway, while crappy and while I get both sides of the argument, this could be implemented perfectly fine and be ok. Truth is we really can't say until it's out.

You do realize this is the company that has revised and released like a dozen versions of the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Why would believe it would be any different with his franchise?

Just play the damn game again and enjoy it for the replayability. It's no different to playing a game with multiple endings or story changes due to play styles, stop being so melodramatic about free content.

Id take anything at at this stage. This game is dead boring and ive experienced my fair share of bugs too. All the driving around for stupid side quests is DRIVING me crazy!!!

Plus is it just me or does it feel like noctis and his band of brothers are like from a different dimensionever since they arrived in hammerhead...??? Wtf feels like im playing a game where cosplayers are on their way to comic con. Because all the other NPCs dress like normal every day folk! Totally breaks the illusion of what the game should be!

I'm fine with it - I'll just play through the story again once they've finished changing it, after playing the DLC of course.

Well then...I just might have to return to Witcher 3 and complete it, even though I originally planned to finish it after beating FF15.

Or you know, just just play free mode and not touch the main quest like I do, Right now I am too busy trying to catch every fish in the game to care about stopping Nilfheim. Lvl 61 and still only on chapter 7. Another thing you could do is oh I don't know, maybe start a new freaking game?

Gamers today are so entitled, it makes me want to vomit. You're getting free content, yet you still complain. FFXV without the updates still has many hours of gameplay in it and fully warrants the price. Whether you like the game or not is an entire different story. You're still getting free updates and in what obscure world is that a bad thing? You'd rather not have any updates at all, or make them charge us for it? I have a feeling that the people whining about this are butthurt FF fanboys that can't get past the fact that after over 15 games they wanted to try something different (I'm a longtime FF fan myself by the way, before you pull the whole "you don't understand cause you weren't around in the 90's") and will therefore cling to anything they can use to criticize the game.

This is such a non-issue, frankly the opposite of a non-issue. This is a positive thing and I am happy that they keep supporting the game to sort out some of the many issues the game has.

This game only took me a few days to beat, no skill was required, the magic system sucks, the story is totally forgettable, if they added anything it should be a total different area to explore. It's not a bad game per say. It's just really empty for a final fantasy game. Yes it's better than ff13 but man I best the game and all these side missions are all I got left to do, it's not like the good old days ff where you could fight an ultimate weapon after you beat a game

This is great because I have so many games I only put 4 hrs into FFXV so far,I'll be playing it well into next year.

don't buy it day one, buy it when its dirt cheap. I'm not getting it until then regardless due to the story and characters taking a back seat to the gameplay and open world for years now.

I'm a day 1 deluxe edition buyer and I completely disagree. This is a game I'll be putting several hundred hours into across multiple playthroughs, give me as much content as possible. Make an already outstanding game even better. I would agree if the game was crap, but it's not.

I'm playing through and enjoying FF15 right now. I will gladly pay through it again some time. I'm at chapter 13 though, and I got to tell you, this part sucks. I will gladly accept any update that modifies this section of the game.

This is the thing. This isn't the type of game that you can just go back and start with other characters. I'm already fairly deep into the game, and i'm not the type to have access amounts of time to have multiple playthroughs this game. If they patch the change to chapter 13 and it gets incorporated into my saved game, then that's good.

Are they unable to replay the game? Last I checked there were no laws against it.

More like unfair to day one players. When I heard the game played at a better frame rate on ps4 pro, I immediately sold my ps4 and am waiting for a price drop on the pro.

Being mad that they're fixing problems seems a little ridiculous. "I'm mad that Overwatch was better balanced after it was first released, it's unfair to me as a day one buyer!"

I don't feel this is unfair. I'm playing the game right now as a matter of fact and if I end up beating it before these patches (which I doubt will happen) I'll just play new game+. Even if I've already missed those patches areas I'll still be going back through at some point. It's not like I'm trying to beat the game and sell it right away.

I don't think Tabata will be co-directing or directing a mainline Final Fantasy again.

Glad i held off on playing this game. I have so many backlog of games that I feel like I may never get to.

Is this a real article? How is this unfair to real FF diehard fans? Won't diehard fans play this many times over, play no+ etc? They will benefit because on 2nd play through a they will get free added content that adds to the experience.

I'm never gonna fault a company that gives us a great game for $60 and then chooses to listen to fans and continue to add content or beef up the core experience for free. TW3 did this and it was great.

We can all look back and say that games like BB would have been better had we had all the content in day 1. Oh well. I'd rather be able to voice my opinion and have devs continue to flesh out the experience.

Now if the game was like $30 worth of content and then added it 3 months later, you might have a gripe. But even then (NMS and SF5), in the end if you have a stellar game, it's all worth it if you love video games.

The only people this really effects are those who play a new game every week and never look back. Streamers etc. They may be disappointed that they didn't get the best experience day 1. But this isn't the reality anymore, and I am fine with it.

The game was complete at launch, but if they're willing to make it betterment for free, we should not be criticising the, under some notion of it being "unfair".

All terrible solutions. It's not "unfair" to anyone, but it is inconvenient - let's avoid convincing Square Enix to just not bother if we can help it.

Unfair? Seriously? No one told you to purchase the game day one. That was your decision alone. I mean what did you think was gonna happen? Did you really expect to get the full experience right out of the gate? This is a AAA game in 2016. Of course there are going to be patches, improvements, and post-launch DLC. I get that you're upset you didn't get to experience all that when you played it, but to even suggest that this is unfair... how entitled do you have to be?

The next time you decide to buy a AAA game, why don't you wait a few months after release first. If I've learned anything about game development in the last few years, it's that the release of a game is only a stage in the middle of the development cycle.

This irritates me as I finished the game already. Left me with so many questions. At least they'll be answered in the form of content. Honestly though had I known this before finishing it I probably would've waited to beat it. There is no new game plus currently. Only that you save the game right before the final boss fight, which lets you travel back in time to do/finish side quest and what not.

Meh, I'm enjoying the game in its current state so this doesn't really bother me at all.

My soapbox issue on this is Legacy. I can put an original copy of FF7 in a PlayStation and it will play just fine, and I won't miss a beat.

One day, PS4 servers WILL shut down, and we really haven't seen what will happen with legacy updates. Think about games like Tony Hawk 5. Regardless of the quality of the game, it's alleged half the game was incomplete requiring like a 6GB patch. If someone finds that game and wants to play it twenty five years from now for "vintage" sake, they will not be able to see the game as intended.

It'd be like *SPOILER FOR ANCIENT GAME* if in Final Fantasy 7 you went in a dungeon and came out without Aeris, who you never see again, because the developers had to take the time to patch in the story with Sephiroth slaying her. It was intended, heck, you'd see her at the end and say "....huh?" without the patch, but that's how they decide to distribute the game. For us, now, it's okay. For people without internet......it's terrible. And for the future day when this patch goes off of servers, never to be seen again, you'll have to seek out a PS4 with the particular patches on it to fully experience it.

Sure, hackers may make fake servers with patches on them, but will Sony stand for that? After all, the quicker people stop playing old games, the faster they will adopt new games. Meaning more revenue.

Yeah, I own the game, haven't gotten to play yet. Yeah, it'd suck getting past those and no way to see them rather than to restart the game. But if I resonate with this game so much I want to share it with my children when they are old enough and I can't even get the fricking patch, that'll be a new era of sad.

The story should have been there as a complete package. It's fine to give us free content (obviously, who'd complain about that?) However, it paints the base story with a dark shade when the later half of the game (haven't reached it) is apparently muddied. If the story that's being added, was actually needed to bring depth and clarification to the base game but was missing, rather than extra story to go deeper into an already rich story, that's a problem.

People need to ascertain that while free updates are awesome, free updates that bring content (particularly story) ought to be there...when the game comes out. There's a key difference between free and exciting, and free and a few months late to the show.

Anyways. I'm loving the game.

In the long run I'll be happy when more content is added. In fact I'm fine with how this is being managed... because they are giving it to us for free. And since I, the consumer, am enjoying the product, I can't complain.

Imagine if they put it behind a paywall? Believe me, they could have. Others would have. One day, someone will. And that's the worst problem, the precedence it's setting. Other studios are watching, and if they see that gamers will accept games coming out with missing chunks of story, then they will take advantage of the fact.

So in summary. It would have been much appreciated if the free story content that is coming, was actually released with the base game. The worst thing you can have happen when it comes to a story in a game, is if those who play it...all receive a different story...and not the kind we crave.

It makes the legacy of a game struggle to breathe. Because facts will get lost, amongst updates.

Well, that's silly. Is not like day-one patches are pre-order bonuses. Everyone is supposed to have access to whatever that patch added, so saying that's not fair to whoever had to update on day one makes little sense. What's unfair is MGSV having THE END of the story only for those who pre-ordered it (or was it the collector's edition?).

Are you kidding me? MGSV getting cut off during development and forced to release with no possibility of a story update that the director intended to include was unfair.

The fact that this team and its producers actually give enough of a damn to still address and correct issues, while also providing more story and features for free, is not a bad thing at all. I'm looking forward to more from a game I already really enjoy.
