Uncharted 4's First DLC Drops Next Week

Well, that came around fast didn’t it? Remember – just before the release of Uncharted 4 – developer Naughty Dog chalked up a roadmap for its jaw-dropping finale to the series, outlining what fans could expect from future DLC and when it would become available.

Nice! Time for some new vanity items and maps alongside a progression system.

I have unlocked a lot of stuff since launch, all without paying a penny. ND's relic system is fantastic.

ripper_roo2862d ago

Unlocked them all :P

Hopefully this next batch will be a little more wacky. Have 4,000 Relics waiting to spend!

Spyroo2862d ago

Give me half. Cheers.

"I have unlocked a lot of stuff since launch, all without paying a penny."

The fact that something as simple as new MP characters are locked behind some purchasable currency that can be acquired with real money (if so inclined) is still bothersome. If you're already doing the typical DLC + Season Pass structure, it's insulting to add another monetizing method in the form of psychologically-manipulative micro-transactions.

Guyfamily9992862d ago

All the DLC (multi-player maps, modes, updates, weapons) is free, there is no season pass.

coolbeans2862d ago

@Guyfamily999

Nope. There is a season pass. http://www.gamestop.com/ps4...

Nitrowolf22862d ago (Edited 2862d ago )

The season pass is mostly just for the one single player DLC

You get 2 multiplayer pack hat include one of each type of unlocks, which in all honesty you can get from just doing a daily challenge or two

I only spent money on this once because I didn't want to wait till I randomly got one of the Skins I wanted but after playing for a month I've unlocked everything aside from all the weapon mods which you can't even buy anyway

It's not hard to unlock everything they have a Android game that you can play to get relics also.

I literally played Uncharted multiplayer a few times a day to finish my daily challenges and I've unlocked all my cosmetics.

When I first bought the game I was annoyed with the microtransaction thinking it would be a crying fast but it isn't

coolbeans2862d ago (Edited 2862d ago )

@Nitrowolf2

"I literally played Uncharted multiplayer a few times a day to finish my daily challenges and I've unlocked all my cosmetics."

Let's say it was just that easy. That then begs the question why a micro-transaction option would still be there. It's the principle that such a penny-pinching option would still be included that's bothersome. And for someone like me who hasn't been enjoying the MP that much to play everyday, I probably have a while to go to get all the cosmetics I'd want. And for other people who may not play so much and/or don't bother with some Android extra, you can see how such an option may be more psychologically-manipulative than for yourself (EDIT: I don't mean that in a way to rag on you or anything. I appreciate you sharing those details).

@coolbeans

... There is no season pass. That pack just gives you a few items everyone can earn. All maps, game modes, etc. are free to everyone.

coolbeans2862d ago (Edited 2862d ago )

...Despite the very link I provided categorizing it as exactly that. Regardless of whatever special conditions there may be for UC4's case here, I'm still going to call a spade a spade.

itBourne2862d ago (Edited 2862d ago )

How does the link you posted categorize it as exactly that? Nothing is stuck behind a paywall like other season passes, no community segregation, and everything bought in the multiplayer packs are available for free to EVERYONE.

coolbeans2862d ago

Did you read the full URL of that link? If you did you'd see the UC4 Triple Pack categorized as "ps4/season pass/UC4" part of it. Once again, those special considerations don't disregard it as being termed a season pass. It's still a pay-up-front system for all of the upcoming DLC detailed to be included at a discounted rate rather than buying them individually.

That's it.

1.) Name-calling isn't allowed on here so I'm going to have to mark that comment. Let's focus on the argument itself.

2.) Then what do you have? Just saying "lol" and disregarding that ain't gonna fly. Other online retailers will net you the same result. Funny that, huh? It's almost like businesses trying to sell these season passes have a vested interest in properly categorizing what they're selling.

3.) Once again...again, the special conditions you're putting have been acknowledged but that DOES NOT mean it's wrong to call this a season pass. It has the integral qualities of one:

-the option to pay the up-front cost at a discounted price before the DLC's officially released
-the INSTANT access to said DLC upon its arrival

I get how the modes are free, the maps are free, yada yada yada. Can the stuff from the MP portions of this season pass be acquired without payment? Yes, but not INSTANT access like Triple Pack promises on the Playstation store. While you'll have to earn the MP's in-game currency to unlock them, someone else could get it all via $$$.

4.) "No one needs to spend a dime, and to be quite honest, it would be foolish to pay for this stuff."

I agree. But then that begs the question I've brought up before: if the ability to get weapons + cosmetics is so easy, why have it there in the first place? The answer seems clear it's in the hopes of nickel 'n diming the loyal customers.

Nice because i unlocked all the vanity items and i unlocked Them all through trials and mp :).

Im sincerely hooked to this mp, its just so good and love the movement.

Sunny_D2862d ago

It is. The game is smooth with how you shoot and take cover. I feel like I'm in the battle myself. The animations are so smooth that I had my roommate mention how smooth the game looked when he walked by the TV.

Spyroo2862d ago

The animations are top-tier especially for a Multiplayer

the_hitman30002862d ago

I can't wait I been waiting for more of the DLC to come. Although I am kinda disappointed this only adds one map.
