What is there to be worried about? You'll get the exact same game you would have gotten if you stick with the original PS4 as you would have if Neo never existed... Sony is just giving you choice. When was that a bad thing?

The model is what needs to happen. Distinct console gens needed to die. No one wants to roll the dice each gen hoping to rebuild a consumer base, no one wants to make game for the last and first years of a consoles lifespan because dying console owners aren't that excited about most new games and the install base in new console isn't big enough.

Get used to it like you got used to iphone 6 then iphone 6s the and Samsung G5,G6, G7, etc. A new forward and backwards compatible console that releases every three years makes sense and ensures the games keep coming. You buy one game that works on both. They're not separate skus, no one is stopping to make original PS4 games. Maybe they will in three years but that would be a typical console lifespan. Now though, you could get a much cheaper new PS4K console to continue playing literally EVERYTHING.

It's actually good for gamers. Ensures proper BC but with improved graphics and significantly reduces gaming droughts.

I think the only ones that are worried are Microsoft and Nintendo fanboys. As a multi-consoles owner. I welcome the PS4K, if it's true or not.

I'm not worried because I'm not someone who freaks out over a non existent reveal where the details aren't even out in the open or stated as fact. If anything I am excited for the potential benefits, rather than focusing on how it could be bad for me as a gamer. Sony stated that this won't impede the games those with a ps4 have, so really, you aren't losing. If you want to upgrade (for whatever the reasons end up being) then go for it. If you don't want to or can't afford it (both completely understandable) then the ps4 is still fine.

I think the only people who have a right to be frustrated at THIS POINT in the reveal process, are game developers. Because it could mean more work for them. Us as gamers have nothing to complain about right now in regards to the NEO.

In other news these same whining gamers who are complaining about this upgraded and more capable PS4 are rushing out to get the latest mobile phone and an updated tablet (not to mention the endless updates they do on their PC gaming rig).

I sincerely hope this news is true and the 4k is real. I would love an even more capable PS4 with increased graphic fidelity, more ram, etc. All these people who are whining about this WILL NOT BE IMPACTED. If you don't like it, don't buy it. All of the PS4 titles will play on your existing hardware.

For those that want an improved and updated experience, the 4K/Neo or whatever it is to be called will be available.

If history repeats itself companies always prefer the new tech over the old and put the older model to the side. Frankly, if I thought it'd be handled well, I'd be all for the Neo. But it isn't going to be. It'll start out with games being poorly optimized on the original PS4, and inevitably we'll start seeing exclusive titles that are 'only possible' on the Neo. Anyone who thinks everything will be the exact same on both consoles, with the Neo just having an easier time with resolution and frame rate is being naive and ignoring history.

Sure Sony may say at first all games will be released for both systems but developers a year after release could say they are tired of developing two different versions of the same game & one will eventually not be made as Sony surely can not force developers 2 develop 2 versions

I don't know if I would go as far to say that gamers are worried. As far as me and my friends are concerned, we couldn't care less it even exists because we already have PS4s and gaming PCs. That said I think the Neo is a brilliant plan for anyone that has yet to own a PS4.

New technology doesn't worry me. When the PS4 was announced, I wasn't pissed because Sony was looking past the PS3 on to something better. WTF is wrong with PS4 gamers? You wanted 1080p 60fps games and almost every PS4 game can't deliver on that. You're getting what you asked for as far as I'm concerned. I can't wait for the NEO. If you want to live inthe past then boycott the NEO and don't buy it. As for me, I'm not scarred of new technology, an I can't wait for the NEO! Oh man... Yes, it sucks for early adopters but the reality is that they will need to get past it because it's happening. Technology evolves - it's just what happens. And furthermore, people need to get out of the mindset that this is a console generation of yesteryear. It's questionable at this stage if gaming consoles will even exist beyond this current generation considering the pace and evolution of tech found in streaming, 4k and cloud-based back-ends.

What people should be more concerned about is licensing/copyright. With physical games becoming a reduced possibility, or always online, digital games packaged in a physical version to provide the illusion of ownership, it's become widely apparent that games publishers have no intention of giving their consumers total control; there are exceptions to this role, of course, like the CDProjekt-owned platform GOG, where their entire catalog boasts DRM-free versions of games offered at the same price as competitors like Valve's Steam or Ubisoft's UPlay.

Back to the original point though - you can't pay so little for a piece of technology anymore and impose the same expectations on it that at one time were accepted. We don't mind shelling out hundreds of dollars for the latest and greatest smartphone nowadays, and the same logic and mindset needs to be applied here. The gaming industry is evolving rapidly and ultimately what that means for the consumer is potentially smaller investments made more frequently.

I'm worried for a few reasons. I don't have the money to spend. Already have a PS4 but knowing there is going to be a better version, when I don't have the necessary funds to actually upgrade is killer. Knowing there will be an upgraded version of the game might lead me to believe that the game I bought won't be worth it.
Lets say I bite the bullet and trade in my PS4 to try and upgrade to PS4K. Will the games being sold for that console also be raised in price too for the 4k version? Instead of 60, will they cost 70 dollars? What if they upscale current games (ones which I own digitally) to sell on the 4K version? Would I have to buy them again to play on PS4K?
I'll just wait to see what they announce, when they announce it, and what are the real issues that come of it. Until then, nothing I can do but enjoy the games on the platforms I play them on.

I'm worried games will go up in price for example here in Ireland most games go for 75 euro and seeing as developers will have to do extra work for the PS4 NEO they will want to increase the price.

Also if people think that Sony can force developers to not gimp the base version of PS4 games your delusion no offense.

Most PS4 owners aren't worried, its really only those in xcamp, or PC only gamers, making a big deal about this and trying their hardest to spread FUD. I am a day 1 PS4 owner and if the Neo is quite a bit more powerful than the base PS4 (playing games with much improved graphics and framerate) then I'm sure I'll probably pick one up.

I mean after all the PS4 released in 2013, which seems like quite a long time ago. I welcome a more powerful version that has the exact same UI and is 100% backwards compatible.

My biggest issue thus far with the information we have there is no idea how this will affect the current landscape. We already have 3 PS4's an if it ultimately gets to the a point where performance is so bad on certain games I can't imagine have to replace all 3. I know they claim it won't ever happen but so Nintendo said the same thing with games that were not exclusive to the new 3DS an yet Hyrule Warriros plays like shit on the old 3DS.

I will reserve judgement until I see what they actually do at E3 but I just don't think its a good idea to split the user base. An saying there would be no exclusive features is also stupid if a multiplayer game plays at 30fps and 60fps 1080p on the new one that's an exclusive feature and an advantage. A large part of why consoles sell the way they do is because they are affordable boxes in which you know you are going to be set for a few years standard. The standard allows for number one everyone to know they don't have to worry about how a game is going to play or if they can play an everyone has the same experience on that platform.

Taking away that standard starts to just muddle into that gray area PC has been in for ages. Except with PC you know what you are getting into out the gate. This is just a out of nowhere hit like I said the New 3DS was an I said back then if one of the consoles did this they would get slayed for it. An yet here we stand acting like if it happens it will have no affect. An the phone comparison is stupid your s6 works just like the s7 there is no glaring performance difference and again you knew what to expect. That's a really be factor here the oh btw those PS4's you got they are now the low end model thanks for the $1200 you dropped on our consoles so far.

Also when games are now shown on commercials and at E3 and so on and so forth are you seeing the Neo version or OG PS4. This creates a multitude of variables that yea the typical user who bought one PS4 at launch probably won't sweat an can upgrade easily. At the very least I would need two for me and my girlfriend who are both avid gamers. That's another $800 freaking dollars. At that point I may as well just had upgraded my entire PC again. Which I had planned to go from my GTX 680 to whatever comes out but now I have to consider if this shit goes down what to do. Also is it going to happen again? what about next cycle an so on and so forth.

It just seems like a lot of people are considering only their own personal situation an not the variables of why some people have an issue with it.

I'm not worried about the 'Neo' - All Sony has to do, is show it to me, reveal it specs and show me games (that I already have) running on it... If I feel it's worth buying, I will, no problem (I upgrade my PC, so why is this any different?) BUT, if I feel the upgrade doesn't justify it, well I'll continue playing on my PS4.

There is no big deal at all. Unless you are unhappy with your PS4, or you are a person who spends all day drooling over his neighbors' car b/c it's 6 months newer, there is nothing but good here. Actually, it's great!!! They phase out the older ones, but in no way does it mean that the current PS4 isn't an astonishing console.

I dunno. I kinda want one. I'm actually pretty grateful Sony is offering this as an option to the consumer, mid-gen, rather than holding the keys to better console hardware until the end of some made-up 'hardware cycle'. Also, they're doing it in a way that inconveniences no-one, if the rumours are true.

I have a PS4, but I think a Neo would be a nice upgrade when I get round to it. I've always felt the PS4 was great, but a tad underpowered. Really, 1080/60fps should have been the baseline this generation. So, I like the idea.

The only reason I would worry about the Neo is if I couldn't afford to get a Neo.

So, the only people who would be worried by this are those that are either too young to buy a Neo or too strapped for cash. 5 years ago I wouldn't have been able to consider an upgrade as I was still a struggling student. Maybe I would have felt envious - but is that my fault? Or Sony's for putting the option out there? It seems rather childish to blame a company for offering more product that people want, especially one that simply adds to, rather than replaces a current generation.

On the other hand, envy and jealousy are human emotions. I'm sure Sony doesn't want to push those buttons too hard. However, as it's essentially the same platform offering the same games, only with a few extras, I see this very much more like an iPhone upgrade. I have an iPhone 5c. I know there are better models that offer better experiences, but the core experience is still very much the same. Or like a PC upgrade - if you're a PC gamer.

In terms of the argument that OGPS4 games will start to struggle, due to devs pushing PS4Neo gfx and spending less time optimising OG versions. I don't think this fear is supported by what we see in terms of performance levelling between current hardware set-ups. Devs are pretty boxed-in this generation by the lowest common denominator consoles and have become very proficient in designing and optimising for a very large power gap - between consoles and PC. The difference between the PS4 and Titan X is far, far, far larger than the PS4 and PS4 Neo, for example. So if devs can make games that bridge the former gap, they can easily make games that can bridge the performance gap between PS4 and Neo and offer great experiences on both platforms.

So...

.. yeah, I can't figure out why anyone would be angry or worried about the Neo. Nothing changes for people who don't buy it, except the knowledge that it's out there and others have it.

Ultimately, people who are upset about this should theoretically already be upset that gaming PCs already play games way better that their PS4 does... and far better than Neo will. I guess, if PC is totally off your radar and console is all your care about, and you're happy that you and all your friends bought the same console (PS4) and that you all buy the same games, and that you all have totally equal experience so none of you can make fun of each other and call each other names for having an inferior version of the same machine, then...

I feel that i was used like a beta tester for the real PS4 fuck you sony never bought a PS again.

Just replayed the entire game on ps5. Game has held up very well. I still rate it among my top 5 games of last gen. I think it got a bad rap mainly because people were sick of zombies and it didnt check enough identity boxes. Overall though, it had a very unique take on zombies with the hordes as well as a good balance between zombie and human enemy combat. Visuals are still stunning and look better than the majority of ps5/series X games.

The story was good enough and although the voice acting was hit or miss, overall I was impressed. Along with sleeping dogs, this is probably the game I would like to see a sequel to most, even though it will never happen.

Meh! The Video Game. Amazing Graphics, Amazing Motorcycle Physics, a pretty noble, and to some extent, great execution of the Zombie Horde, all wrapped up in absolute mediocrity. Mediocre missions, mediocre characters, mediocre dialogue, mediocre exploration, and mediocre Zombie Hordes that somehow died faster than the normal zombies.

And another Zombie Game with no Headshot Mode.

There were some great ideas that sadly were wrapped in a mediocre execution of almost everything they set out to achieve. You could almost see greatness in the distance and what it could've been, but all it managed was to be an inferior Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare clone, but without any of the charm.

I really did like the Motorcycle though. Such a shame.

One of my favorite games I had fun getting the platinum for it. I am disappointed Sony scrapped the sequel I would have bought it day one. I like Sam Witwer as an actor and think he did a good job as Deacon.
