Nothing wrong with controversy, CoolFool. For sure, the US version had things going for it. I do recall that the victims of the ghost looked a lot more grisly in the US version, which was a good move. But I thought the Japanese ending was a lot creepier.

Absolutely agree with the Spanish/Mexican comment. Some of the best of recent years have been Spanish. They do good ghost stories.

Thanks for commenting, JL.

Thanks for commenting, guys. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Wrap up warm, it's a cold one. ;-)

Good point, Blur99. He's not someone I've seen a great deal of, but I've seen enough to know he deserved a place.

Thanks for commenting.

Lol, thanks, Alycakes. With only ten choices, I was always doomed to disappoint. ;-)

I'm not a big fan of Tarantino, alycakes. He rarely makes my lists, I'm afraid. It was a good scene but not one of my favourites.

Thanks for reading, dude! :-)

Thanks for commenting, guys. I'm one of those in the Die Hard 4 camp, for sure. I thought it was the best of all three sequels. Sure as hell kicked Die Hard 2's ass.

But maybe that's because I'm bald felt a certain kinship with the cue-ball McClane. ;-)

I'd stick at it, JL. It's worth it, but you might be scratching your head and going 'huh?' for a few days afterwards. I was. ;-)

Thanks for all the comments, people. I have to say I'm amazed that Evil Dead isn't getting the love. For me, it's by far the best of the trilogy. Army of Darkness was awful.

Still, the beauty of writing a post like this is stirring the debate. Glad to see people having their say.

Other movies that were considered but ultimately rejected were:

Delicatessen
Primer
Blood Simple
Performance
Little Mis...

Oh no! An auto-fail! I absolutely considered 12 Angry Men, and many of the others you listed here, JL. It was one of the most difficult whittling down processes I've gone through. :-)

However, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels never had a chance. I can't stand that movie.

Thanks for commenting. I've been chuffed with how popular this post has been.
