Today, at the Screen Gems panel at SDCC '11, Les Wiseman announced that we'll be getting even more of the Underworld universe to look forward to.
Speaking on the panel for Underworld Awakening, Wiseman told us that they've created a series of anime shorts based on the Underworld universe. While no details were given really, he did state that they would expand upon the universe, fleshing out some of the characters and stories, as well as providing a cool new look at the Underworld.
Furthermore, these will be included in an all new Underworld Blu-ray box set that will be released later. Now, no word was given exactly when that might be. An opportune time would seem to be the month leading up to Underworld Awakening's theatrical release. However, it's entirely possible that this could be put off until even later so as to include Awakening in there for a full box set as well.
