Xbox Series X Games Showcase Announced for July 23

It has been in the air for a while, but Microsoft finally confirmed the date of its big Xbox Series X showcase this month.

JCOLE131951383d ago

Really looking forward to what they show. Can’t wait!

But not really. I mean Xbox have already had a showcase of next gen games and now PlayStation have too. So this is not the beginning of anything. It's just the next look in

Marquinho1383d ago (Edited 1383d ago )

It will mark a before and after in the Xbox brand.

Mr Pumblechook1383d ago (Edited 1383d ago )

I’d argue it all officially began when Microsoft on its E3 2018 stage announced Project Scarlett, and then with Sony when it gave an interview to Wired magazine in March 2019 that was the first official mention of PlayStation 5. Those are the occasions you can (and people did) rightfully say ‘so it begins’. Not after hardware reveals, spec reveals, chassis reveals and some game reveals. At this rate the consoles will be in the shops and somebody will be saying ‘so it begins’!

@monkey602 Perfect answer, no snark, no insults. Just explaining like a parent does to their child when he or she is wrong. Made me laugh though.

@Marquinho, no hard feelings just having a laugh mate.

Marquinho1383d ago

On July 23rd and beyond, you guys will understand.

Taking things literally is the easiest, but usually not the correct way. 😉

Oh wow, so the leaker was correct for a second time, he also predicted the exact date of the rescheduled Ps5 event, definitely going to keep an eye on anything he says from now on

I want to see some kick ass first party games. Been looking forward to seeing the fruits of Microsoft's studio expansions for quite some time.

So noon on a Thursday for me. I'm going to have to plan to be sick for a couple hours that day. :-)

CaptainHenry9161383d ago (Edited 1383d ago )

I wanna see something mind-blowing and has the potential to be the new biggest IP for Microsoft. I wanna see something better than Halo and Gears. I also hope they talk more about Windows and Xbox gamepass

medman1383d ago (Edited 1383d ago )

This is what I'm saying....Normally I own multiple consoles each gen but I skipped this gen for xbox because from mid to late in the 360 gen, Microsoft dropped the ball with their first party studio offerings....they had nothing and I saw nothing on the horizon for the xbox one that really interested me, other than the usually Halo, Forza, Gears, but that isn't enough for me. I fully intend to buy a series x (love the hardware decisions with series x, and gamepass is excellent), but I want to see new ip's that get me excited the way I got for games like Mass Effect and Gears on the 360. That would be fantastic.

MajorLazer1382d ago

Seconded. I glossed over the X1 entirely, but was interested if they'd ever recover and make worthy games. Really hope the SX has awesome games again.

CaptainHenry9161382d ago (Edited 1382d ago )

Something almost like this. If Microsoft can get CD project Red that would be huge news

https://www.gamespot.com/ar...

ABizzel11383d ago

I'm waiting for Playground and The Initiative games (and praying their New IP's and not Fable and Perfect Dark).

I'm not a huge Halo fan, but I do like the co-op campaign so I'm excited to see what the campaign looks like, and hopefully, couch co-op comes back although I doubt it (at least 2 players please).

I know what to expect from the other first-party studios, but I'm still hoping for a surprise here and there from 2nd party and some good showings from 3rd parties.

CaptainHenry9161383d ago (Edited 1383d ago )

Fable and Perfect Dark will be there. I wanna see something that will make you wanna buy an Xbox. I'm not interested in Halo Infinite

RazzerRedux1382d ago (Edited 1382d ago )

"I wanna see something that will make you wanna buy an Xbox."

Not me. I'm buying MS games on PC. I've fussed endlessly over the years about MS first party. Looking for something from first party I can truly get excited about that isn't Forza.

crazyCoconuts1382d ago

I'm with you on not wanting Fable or Perfect Dark. I get the nostalgia factor, but I feel like I've outgrown those games.
I'm really hoping they don't change anything with their GamePass PC strategy, because the notion of playing through Halo Infinite's campaign on my PC for just $1 seems too good to be true. Can they keep allowing that now that they have more games in the pipeline, or will they close that loophole somehow?

PyroMessiah861382d ago

Couch coop for Halo Infinite was confirmed quite some time ago.
High hopes for Halo Infinite myself. Liked what I've seen so far

I'm curious whether they have acquired any new eastern studios, or if they have exclusives lined up to help break into Japan.
Other than that it would be v good to see perfect dark and hopefully an action adventure game from the initiative.

TranceHop 1383d ago (Edited 1383d ago )

Fingers crossed for Hellblade 2 gameplay!

East76lands1383d ago

I'm a Playstation man but Hellblade is one of the games over on Xbox I'm interested to see, that and whatever Obsidian are doing.

timotim1382d ago

Hopefully Hellblade 2 isn't the only game that impresses you come the 23rd.

Wikkid6661382d ago

Unlikely to see gameplay.... Work on Hellblade 2 just start started. It's most likely 2022 release.

Abnor_Mal1383d ago

And you can not hide it
You're about to lose control

PlayStation Exclusive 'Kena: Bridge Of Spirits' Rated For Xbox Series X|S

There's been plenty of news about Xbox games moving over to PlayStation recently, but how about one coming the other way? Well, 2021's Kena: Bridge of Spirits has just been ESRB rated for an upcoming Xbox Series X|S release

Kena was original announced as console exclusive "for a limited time"..

Inverno1h ago

Not to mention it's also been on PC, so not exclusive at all.

Juancho511h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Console exclusives are exclusive to certain consoles … really not hard to comprehend unless you’re a salty gamer fighting an imaginary console war.

I just got this game on the PS+ Catalogue to redeem some points on the rewards program, it’s not mindblowing, but it’s a very pretty action adventure game. Not thrilled about it but i pick it up randomly sometimes when i take a break from my usual fare.

Inverno21m ago

It may be "exclusive" to a certain console but it's still multiplatform because it's on more than one platform.

Jin_Sakai45m ago

Amazing game. I wish they’d make a sequel.

Elda1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Kena is owned, developed & published by Ember Labs studios & it was a "limited" PS console exclusive. PS having it as a console exclusive for 3 years is enough time to pass it on to another console platform.

VersusDMC22m ago

It's just hack journalism saying 3rd party exclusives going to other competing platforms is the same as 1st party. Shall we say that Nintendo games are going to other consoles since No More Heroes 3, Octopath and Monster Hunter Rise got ported to other consoles? Dumb.

Crows904m ago

It's also called fake News journalism or bad journalism, misinformation...so many names for it.

Lexreborn21h ago

Kena was a really good game, anything that helps it get more exposure is welcomed.

purple10153m ago

what's that one Sony did before Kena that was like Ninetndo's pikimin, I forget, I missed that and it looked fun, might try to grab on sale, it would be my second ONLY ever digital purchase, (as I don't think it was ever physical as its a small game)

Crows904m ago

Not sure but Sony didn't do kena

GamingSinceForever34m ago

That was a good game and surprisingly difficult.

There's a reason they're called 'gods' and not 'regular people'. It's nice they've diversified even more but gods looking godly wasn't exactly a glaring issue with the first game.

Juancho511h ago

Hey! Gods suffer from obesity and diabetes too!

Blastoise1h ago

This is the dumbest article I've read in a long time.

Michiel198934m ago

No one had an issue with that besides a very select group of people that try to push their own agenda.
