Can't believe I'm saying this, but I might buy this at launch. I haven't been into online shooters in years but this looks so fun! No lootboxes or microtransactions is a major plus.

Jsm89k1522d ago

Same here, I've been needing a good tps for awhile now. After warframe, nothing rly stood out until this.

LordJamar1522d ago

Gameplay looks kinda meh tho I’m
Not gonna buy the game just cause it has no loot boxes or MTX

Jsm89k1522d ago

What's meh about it? The controls seem tight and snappy. It's cover based but enemies find ways to make u not a camper.

Forn1522d ago

Honestly, I agree with you. It seems pretty slow and bland.

spwittbold1522d ago

They stated in the narration of this video it can be played Solo or Co-Op and has an engaging story and characters.

rdgneoz31522d ago

Watching the preview footage, I hope the scenery is varied. It looked like a bland grey and brown canvas in the open world (they did work in Gears). Looks interesting so far.

RememberThe3571522d ago

Yeah I'm hoping these were just the opening levels and they have some nice variety.

Palitera1522d ago

Bullet spounge enemies. Yikes.

brrdat1522d ago

it's an rpg. why do people say "bullet sponge" enemies as a criticism of shooter-based rpgs, but never have anything to say about the absurd amount of health enemies in sword-based rpgs have, despite them being functionally identical? literally every rpg works this way, because that is the point. you grow in strength as you progress your character.

Palitera1522d ago (Edited 1522d ago )

Because often (as in the gameplay videos of this iteration as well) it leads to you shooting candies instead of strong bullets against your enemies. The hit feedback is very weak.

And your comparison doesn’t make sense. In this shooter you need 20 shots to kill a regular enemy. Are you really trying to say that in “sword rpgs” you need 20 hits to kill a mob?

Hungryalpaca1522d ago

@Palitera

And you mean to say hitting people with steel blades constantly with no death or limbs flying off is any different?

Swords are treated like whiffle bats in games just like guns in RPGs. It’s the same thing.

UnHoly_One1521d ago

The difference is that in melee combat you are constantly going to be moving and picking your time to strike.

"A Bullet Sponge" in a shooting game generally has you just pointing at them and holding down the trigger.

One of those two things is fun to do.

King_Noctis1522d ago (Edited 1522d ago )

A strong and powerful enemy has appeared! He is wearing a golden-plated armor and is armed with a ground-shaking grenades and with one of the biggest guns in the game! He can use cover very effectively, plus his aiming is almost perfect.

....he got killed with one shot? Never mind.

Fist4achin1522d ago

Im excited for this. I have high hopes for it.

Urrakia341522d ago

After multiple titles failing to deliver in the story department (Destiny, The Division, Anthem etc.) am I wrong to feel apprehensive about this game? To it's credit, at least it's strictly single player/co-op with, allegedly, no MTX or lootboxes. Looking forward to seeing some gameplay from this so as to quell my concerns.

Cmv381522d ago

Division delivered on the actual story, just not in how it told it. The echo stuff is dumb.

brrdat1522d ago

how did destiny or the division fail to deliver in the story department? neither of these games are a linear campaign-based game that spoon feed the story to you. you have to explore and get involved in the world to understand and appreciate the story. anthem is the same, but there is less of a reason to do that considering the game was so flawed at launch.

gamer91522d ago

The story in Destiny 1 is well documented as bad. It just sort of ended. They had a lot of interesting stuff but chose to hide in grimoire cards that were not in the main game.

The 7 Best Co-op Games on PS5

There's no better way to enjoy your PS5 than with friends, so here's our picks of the best co-op games on the console.

Cacabunga104d ago

For coop, get a used switch instead

jznrpg104d ago

I own a Switch and have never played co-op on it. I do play Elden Ring , Demons Souls and some other co/op games with my friends on PS5. Baldurs Gate 3 is the next game I’ll play co-op. Can’t do that on a Switch

Cacabunga103d ago

I was thinking for couch casual immediate fun.. not online coop games that require some adaptation.

played it..de-installed it after 30 minutes.

Lighter9675d ago

I got pretty far, and just stopped caring. I uninstalled it as well.

Profchaos675d ago

It's extremely generic. It's not bad but it reminds me of the period between 2007 and 2009 where gears introduced cover shooters so almost everyone went out and made a unreal engine 3 cover shooter.
It feels like that to destiny

IanTH674d ago (Edited 674d ago )

For some it is. At launch, I expect more people felt that way. It also had tons of technical issues back then, at least on PC. I tried it after the New Horizons expansion later last year. I found the campaign enjoyable enough, even if not an amazing one. The gameplay was pretty fun, the story was pretty pants (but how many games can say otherwise lol). Still had some bugs even then, though.

I've no idea what is in the newest expansion, but if it ever piqued your interest, I'd suggest giving it a shot. It might give you 20-30 hours of fun before it fizzles out. Maybe I'll look into this expansion, see what's what.

MadLad674d ago (Edited 674d ago )

I'm having fun with it.
Originally avoided it having heard of the issues around launch.
It has been sitting on Gamepass so finally downloading it the other day.
I'm about 3 hours in, have my Trickster class at level ten, and it's a pretty good time.

Don't know if I'll end up beating it or not, but I'd give it a solid 8 so far, personally.

Livingthedream674d ago

Nah it’s fun, first 30 minutes ain’t enough. Give it a go!

Terry_B674d ago

Bad...nah. Its simply super boring

I played through the entire campaign. It was very generic. The story was mediocre and the technical issues on PC were pretty bad. They patched it up quite a bit. It plays better now. I can say the only reason why I enjoyed it was because I missed Division 2-type gameplay but was was tired of running around the same areas in New York. The endgame is just an enemy hitpoint multiplier where a tiny creature has 20,000 HP. It's too bullet-spongy.
