Honestly Gamestop doesn't seem all that stable of a store anymore. Their closure is inevitable as they aren't finding a way to embrace the future. Hell, I don't think there is anything they can do to bring more customers. I buy all my games online or at Best Buy now. Least they don't bug me about buying something else I have no interest in.

The only thing i get at gamestop are consoles because i can pay them off a little at a time, i have not shopped at gamestop in 7 years because their employees are super abrasive and try to sell you everything.

I have no problem with my local GameStop,the staff & managers are pretty cool.

Those execs miss those bonus checks from the resale profit of used games.

I just been to GameStop the other day to pick up the Division 2 for $5. The store looked good. Had a loot of figures, shirts, mugs, keychains, etc. The guy there was nice. Only asked me if I need any help and didn't try to push anything on me. If they had good preorder programs like Best Buy used to than I would buy my games there again. As it is, I just go there when there is a deal like $5 for a game.

the problem is companies like game stop are using old business structures and philosophies that no longer apply with the advancement of technology. Ask “Blockbuster” what happened when streaming took shape. Then upper management (GameStop) create unrealistic goals, and sales pitches that simple are out of touch with today’s business. It’s simple, “adapt or die!”?With GameStop’s failure to adapt, we will be seeing it close all its doors very soon.

Pressuring workers will not pump sales all it will do make employee's quit.

There would be extreme pressure form bosses of any failing business, so no surprise.

Company is doomed. Online Game sales are far too disruptive and they are not pivoting properly.

I go to GameStop maybe once a year at the most.
And that’s only because they happen to have sone thing on sale at s great price or I really need sone thing now and I can only get it there.

haven’t bought anything from them in probably 7 years now lol i was completely turned off by them when i went to buy a brand new game only to get an open copy because they like doing that display case shit. no thanks.

As a former Game Crazy manager, fuck GameStop. We knew it was coming. They had a good run.

As bad as GameStop is....we need to keep a big retailer that caters to video games. Amazon is cool, but the ability to walk in a store & purchase right now is something we don’t wanna take for granted. Trust me, GS annoys the hell out of me too. Selling open games at new prices, poor trade in prices etc. Perhaps they should take advantage of Bestbuy ending Gamers Club Unlocked & start something similar. I don’t know the answer. I will say this. As a parent..Toys R Us was really price gouging, but depending on Walmart or Target & not having a toys dedicated store sucks. Besides, sometimes we need things ASAP. Waiting for Amazon delivery isn’t my favorite option.

GameStop aren't in my company, but we have similar stores here. It's a shame that they've become so predatory, trying to sell needless expansions etc. to people, some of whom do not know better.

It's not a shame that they're in trouble, but it is a shame that there isn't a better chain of physical game stores with as much of a presence.

so much stuff is made up to trash GameStop I worked their for a good 2 and half years most of the customers were nice and we had great customer service.

most people liked us and we liked helping them it was a fun job honestly almost every customer left with a smile we treated every customer like our friends and got to know them kids especially.

I loved helping kids with their first games or what to buy or even some adults who never gamed those were pretty priceless moments I won’t forget they were so happy to start gaming and I’m glad I was part of that meet allot of really nice people made some
Friends for life it will be such a shame when or if GameStop closes its doors for good you only hear about the bad stuff and never the good and their is allot of good form GameStop a great part of gaming history will be lost forever and tho some will praise that GameStop is closeing I definitely won’t.

I remember I traded a game towards Uncharted 4 in Gamestop they said I would get Uncharted 4 half price but when I went to the store on release day they said that they cannot find my trade-in on file and my only option was to pay the full price for this game. I also find that most of their staff dont know that much about video games. Back when the Xbox 360 was popular I remember one of the staff telling me that the 360 Elite does not have a HDMI port they said that only the 360 slim uses HDMI cables. This is somebody who works at a video games store and knows less about consoles than their customers FFS

I have NEVER had a gamestop employee try to sell me anything! I have been to quite a few here in LA, and I have been to a ton of them in Chicago where I am from. The only thing they tried to sell me was a renewal of my membership. The only reason I keep that is for Game Informer.

The extreme pressure from the higher ups is nothing new. I worked for GameStop from 2006-2012 (back when the company was doing well) and there was just as much pressure then too.

If these stores would transition to offer preview play-through of unreleased games like a mini Pax or local multiplayer tournaments then maybe they wouldn't have to shutter their doors.

Maybe I was lucky, but I never really had any experiences with pushy salespeople. They would ask me once if I want to pre-order something and that was it. The reason I don't go to Gamestop anymore is because with Amazon I can have games show up at my house on release day for the same price, and with free shipping. I don't usually pre-order games, but I can do so on Amazon without paying a cent until the game ships. An exclusive plastic statue isn't going to be enough to get me to waste my time going to a store I don't need to go to.

Gamestop had ages to adapt and now the suits are desperate...

I haven't seen a Gamestop here in South Africa but some game stores have employees that encourage you to look at their used games. What's worse is that they don't read about games so they don't even know much about the products that are on sale. I went to six game stores and none of those employees, all younger than me, knew what was the auction house on Diablo 3.

It’s a business deal. I hardly ever go in GS. I do prefer Bestbuy over GS. I would use GS sales & get BB to price match lol. I really enjoyed GamersClubUnlocked & was truly disappointed that it ended. It’s all about whichever establishment has the best deals for the individual customers. BB was smooth how they swooped in years ago, took a lot of business away from GS & now even they’re rolling back on some of the consumer laden deals that enticed is to buy from them
