96 Minutes (2012) - Popzara Review

Not a total failure or even a bad film as it makes some valid points about class, race, and the legal system; it simply doesn’t reach its full potential.

96 Minutes (DVD) - Popzara Review

A decent film that works better from the comfort of home; desperately wants to be the next Crash, but the narrative lacks the structure and consequence needed and feels weighted by its own ambitions.

TMP Reviews: 96 Minutes

From TMP:

Aimee Lagos is determined to make her mark with her debut film ’96 Minutes’, a very strong character study that takes a hard look into the lives of a few true-to-life characters whose lives are all changed in just a few moments. The film has hard hitting potential if it doesn’t end up being disregarded as a rip of ‘Crash’ since there are a few similarities. The film takes a page from the book of Amores Perros and opens with an almost identical scene, thrusting us into an intense moment and then taking us by the hand to show us how the characters got to that point. Aimee utilizes this non-linear technique throughout the film with great confidence and the film ends up being much better because of it.
