Community Directors Are in Running to Helm the Captain America Sequel

Vulture:
While Captain America had to share director Joss Whedon with five other superheroes in this May's Avengers, Vulture hears that the search is narrowing for someone to helm the patriotic hero's own personal sequel. Insiders tell us that a field of ten directors has been whittled to just three for the follow-up to last summer's hit: George Nolfi, the writer-director of The Adjustment Bureau; F. Gary Gray, best known for directing The Italian Job; and, naturally … Community's Anthony and Joseph Russo?

I'm sure they're all good directors but I hope that the one that gets the job stays focused and gets it done right. I really liked the first one and I don't want to be disappointed. I know the first one wasn't perfect by a long shot but it was still good. They have a lot of room for improvement here.

if they are going to bring the red skull guy back thats assuming hes not in avengers as part of a plot then we cant expect to see this being film till sometime in late 2013 at least till hugo is finish with the 2 part hobbit films

Same. There was a lot they could improve on with the first film that I want to see get done with the second. Hoping that they are not going to fast and actually pay attention to that.

STOPPPP fkn making useless superhero movies, sooo many good ideas get pitched and wasted, instead these greedy bastards milk the superhero franchises for their money.

How about you start making sense instead of whining ?

How is it marvel studios' problem if great ideas get ditched , when they are obviously in the movie business to produce stuff with their own comics franchises and properties ?

spicelicka4407d ago

i was never blaming marvel....

With all do respect to those who enjoy the films, I too am sick to death of all these awful comic book adaptations. They are just so damn lazy. Full of stereotypes, poorly written characters, and contrived plots If you take the nostolgia factor away, you are left with very little.

Case in point: The recently released 'Chronicle' was one of the better and more original superhero films to come out in awhile, but because there was no nostalgia involved it sort of faded away at the box office. If they were somehow able to incorporate some kind of nostolgia, such as tying the film to an existing property, there is no doubt in my mind that it would have done double the business. Coincidently, the film does borrow heavily from Akira, but it is in no way officially linked to that property.

Maybe the shit camera had something to do with Chronicle's failing...
