THR:
Despite a talented cast lead by Halle Berry, director John Stockwell fails to take more than a bite out of this lackluster shark thriller.
The chief selling point for this new shark thriller is evident from the large-size ads depicting its star Halle Berry in a brightly colored bikini. But while comely, scantily clad females have long been a staple of the genre—remember the nude victim in the first scene of Jaws?—they’re not usually Academy Award winners.
Chillopedia: Anybody still feeling the after effects of the energetic Shark Week on Discovery Channel last month? It certainly was a memorable one. Not to mention the demand for shark movies went up by quite a margin.
Jaws is always on top of the list when it comes to shark movies. deep blue sea is also a really good shark film and I'm glad that it's no. 2 on the list.
Coming Soon:
Wrekin Hill Entertainment has released the trailer and poster for director John Stockwell's action-thriller Dark Tide, starring Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez. The movie will be available on VOD March 8th and opens in limited theaters on March 30th.
This looks really good unless your afraid of large bodies of water and sharks. Lots of suspense, drama, and who knows what else in this but we'll see when it comes out next month.
Olivier Martinez (Blood and Chocolate), Ralph Brown, Adi Shankar, Luke Stein, Mark Elderkin, Thoko Ntshinga, and Sizwe Msutu have all be cast alongside Halle Berry in Dark Tide, which is currently filming in Africa. In the film Berry plays Kate Mathieson, shark naturalist and documentarian, has been reluctant to re-enter the water since the tragic death of her mentor.
I've seen the previews to this and I guess it's okay but I don't think I'm going to pay to go see it.
