Writer Jon Duryea says... "Project X is a new found footage film about a kids birthday party that gets too large to control. Actually, it’s not really a “found” footage film. Sure, there’s a character behind the camcorder for the entire film, but the footage is never claimed to have been lost, or stolen or recovered or anything like that. Sure, it plays off the same way as Chronicle or Cloverfield but the movie simply starts and ends like a typical film. It is never fully explained and makes little sense, which is a description that could be applied to every aspect of this film."
