The slasher sub-genre really rose to prominence when John Carpenter caught the cinematic world by surprise with his terrifying stalk and chop flick, Halloween. The faceless Michael Myers far surpassed terrifying, and the idea that the comfort offered by middle to upper-class suburban neighborhoods could be shattered by one rogue shape altered the landscape of horror. Hundreds of copycats would be shot in the three plus decades to follow; some good, some bad and some never even released.

I think I'm one of the few that like Chromeskull. I thought Laid to Rest II was pretty good.
