The Daily Rotation - Father's Day Review

Sean of The Daily Rotation wrote, "Besides what is probably the best series of posters for a single film in — well, ever — Troma’s latest release Father’s Day, from directing team Astron-6 (a filmmaking collective consisting of 5 guys), has all the gore and insanity that the trailer promises. The biggest problem, however, is the film gets lost in these themes and forgets that it has an actual story to tell. I will give the guys of Astron-6 credit for their excellent visuals and execution of the grindhouse style they were going for, unfortunately, the movie doesn’t offer much beyond a good look and feel."

The Blu-ray Breakdown: April 9, 2013

Nicholas of Movies Hate You Too writes:

This is the second straight week of somewhat lackluster Blu-ray releases after what seemed like a month straight of blockbusters and great catalog titles. This week we have a President’s love affair with… hot dogs, Fraser Crane rules Chicago with an iron fist, an Asian superstar takes on a supernatural snake and Nic Cage continues to dig his own cinematic grave. Not exactly a banner week- maybe next week will be better.

FilmFracture:

Another year has gone by at FilmFracture and it has been full of great movies, mediocre trips to the cinema, and some downright awful wastes of time. With that said, here are the best and worst movies of 2012. I must warn you, our choices for the best movies may come as quite a shock--who would have thought a Troma picture would make a best of list?

Ted and Spidy were two of my favourite films of the year, and I complete disagree with the writer putting Les Mis in the worst section, it was outstanding.

I pretty much have to agree with the list. Sure some odd ones here and there, but I'm not a musical fan so Les would be down there for me too.

I just watched "The Beasts of the Southern wild".
It was very unique, and heart touching.
I suggest everyone check it out if you're looking for something different.

Disagree with Prometheus being among the best. Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall or the Hobbit instead! But I liked that they put Ted among the best. That is one funny movie.

Radcliffe was pretty good in The Woman in Black, and it was nice to see him move on to a different type of role, from the role he held for over eight years. Though, in all honesty, there were a few scenes in the movie where I couldn't help but expect him to pull out his wand and use a patronus charm :)
