The MPAA Is A Bully and Weinstein Is Considering Boycotting Them

CPC:
After an appeals process with the MPAA that didn’t go their way, The Weinstein Company (TWC) is considering taking a “leave of absence” from the organization. No offense (and not that I really disagree with them), but what is the boycott really going to accomplish? I don't think it'll have as big an impact as they want.

The only way it would really have a real impact is if other studios follow suit. Get that and we could have a stand against MPAA. There's no doubt there's some displeasure in the industry towards MPAA. A big studio like this could cause others to finally stand up.

At the very least, all the fuss and support here could cause MPAA to overturn the rating.

And if nothing else, it will be interesting to see how the industry reacts to Weinstein putting out unrated movies.

Either way, I support Harvey in this matter.

I'm not saying I disagree, I think the MPAA has gotten to 'big for its britches" lately (even though I still think they are somewhat necessary), but I don't think this is going to do very much.

You're right, if other join the Weinsteins, we're talking major change options, but I don't see that happening just yet. I foresee most major studios looking at this situation with 'detachment' rather than a rallying point.
