In the cluttered realm of B-grade action movies, Contraband has more going on than most, both in terms of filmmaking and plotting. There is far more substance here than in your average, cliché-riddled “one last job” flick and though at times boarding on convoluted and over-stuffed, you at least wont feel insulted. For a January release, this Mark Wahlberg action vehicle is about the best you could hope for and at a few points throughout, even offers a glimmer that a great movie may be lurking somewhere within.
