Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters Delayed Nearly a Year

Coming Soon says

Paramount Pictures has rescheduled their Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters from March 2nd of this year to January 11, 2013.

The film arrives from Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola and stars Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton and Famke Janssen. Set 15 years after the Grimm's Fairy Tale siblings incident at the gingerbread house, the film finds Hansel and Gretel working as bounty hunters, tracking down supernatural beings.

While the Wirkola film is planned for a 3D release, it should not be confused with the also-in-development film Hansel and Gretel in 3D, set to be produced by Michael Bay.

You can take a first look at Arterton and and Renner in character here.

Now what the hell would they go and delay this movie by that much for? |Could it really be THAT bad?

You think it's because Renner was busy with MI4 and now he's doing the Bourne movie? He's already signed up for another movie too but I hope he gets this one done before they start on something else.

They had to have started filming - they have an official pic of them in character.

Likely not because it's necessarily _that_ bad, more to just get more people into the actors involved. Also, probably to distance itself from "Mirror Mirror", "Avengers", "Snow White and the Huntsman", "Jack the Giant Killer", and "The Bourne Legacy".

Most are stories of the same genre and the others have Renner in it. Too much Renner and story types at once, less interest.

That's not a bad point actually. Renner is a pretty good actor but I don't want to see him in every other movie.

I think moving the release date that far tells me everything I need to know about the movie.

Maaaaaaan! I was lookin forward to this film too. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.

I don't watch many movies to begin with. Why take away what few pleasures there are in my life!?
