A Word From the Director About 'Piranha 3DD's' Release

Shock Til You Drop:
Over the holiday period, word spread - thanks to attention drawn to an outdated British home video site - Piranha 3DD was getting a direct-to-DVD release overseas. Of course, concern followed: Would the sequel get similar treatment here on U.S. soil? The answer is "No" and director John Gulager dropped by Shock with a message for the fans. Head inside for a production update from the man behind the Feast films, he's got some good news to share.

I’m really glad that people are interested in the progress of Piranha 3DD.

I can tell you that at 6:30 pm on December 19th, my birthday, the sound mixing for Piranha 3DD was done and the film was finished.

The plan is to come to theaters this Spring in 3D(D)!

Yes, I heard that the UK took it straight to DVD release...I thought that's what would happen here. I guess some people got nervous.

Piranha 3DD Blu-Ray/DVD Review

Nerd Array - The title alone says quite enough about this movie. Yes, there are piranhas, and yes, there are DD sized breasts. You’d think this formula would work for a movie, but for this, it’s just God awful.

Blu Review: Piranha 3DD (TMP)

From TMP:

The 3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy edition of Piranha 3DD delivers B-movie schlock in its finest form. I don't know how it could get any better (or worse?) than this. It's crude, gory, funny, and successfully self-aware. A great high-definition transfer and a few interesting special features make this a recommended buy for fans of Roger Corman creature features and the likes.

I never got the chance to see this. Part of me wants to just for the cheese factor, but at the same time, I can't decide if that's enough.

Piranha 3DD Blu-ray Review - WGTC

Jeremy of We Got This Covered wrote, "Alexandre Aja’s 2010 surprise horror-hit Piranha 3D didn’t fair too well at the box office, but it did please horror fans around the world as they gathered around their 3D screens to witness one of the goriest and most campiest horror films in recent memory. He held back nothing and gave the audience everything in a blood-soaked fashion, with gracious nudity and a thin (but relevant) plot to top it off. John Gulager‘s almost straight-to-video sequel Piranha 3DD is a far cry from Aja’s film and actually ends up being one of the bigger disappointments of the year."
