2009's Sherlock Holmes was such a surprise hit that Warner Bros. immediately green lit a sequel that forced director Guy Ritchie to delay his next project named Lobo and for star Robert Downey Jr. to pull out of Cowboys & Aliens. Rushing out a sequel to strike audiences while the iron is hot is a common trate that can lead to disappointing results as evidenced by such recent rush jobs like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen or Iron Man 2. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows might be a rushed sequel but it bucks an unfortunate trend by delivering a film that is equally entertaining to its predecessor while not just being a carbon copy of the original.
