Anthony of The Daily Rotation wrote, "Well Warner Bros. is at it again this Holiday season. They seek to rake in the money with Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows no matter how good or bad it is. I will tell you right up front that I wasn’t a big fan of the first Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes in 2009 and this one isn’t much different. Honestly, I was willing to give this one a shot just like the first one because of some of the actors. Plus I’ve liked the stories of Sherlock Holmes and Watson. Seriously, it’s Sherlock Holmes and Watson but unfortunately this one didn’t live up the original in 2009 nor to anything else Sherlock Holmes."
